Channing, Audre & I

‘Another important way in which the erotic connection functions is the open and fearless underlining of my capacity for joy. In the way my body stretches to music and opens into response, hearkening to its deepest rhythms, so every level upon which I sense also opens to the erotically satisfying experience, whether it is dancing, building a bookcase, writing a poem, examining an idea.’
Audre Lorde – Uses of the Erotic
Channing Tatum - aka - Magic Mike - aka - male entertainer/carpenter
Audre Lorde - writer, womanist, radical intersectional feminist, philosopher and civil rights activist
and
I - aka - Rebecca Carter - aka - wannabe male entertainer/carpenter, dancer ,queer woman, armchair philosopher
Channing, Audre & I is an autobiographical performance that tracks a journey to finding queer joy via the night clubbing experience - the music, the dancing, the clothes... It also pokes fun at 'contradictions' of personality - a lesbian who loves Magic Mike?
A performance suited for a dark basement party with a reverse strip tease thrown in for good luck.
